Travel Barriers to Care: Why We Cover More Than Treatment
Some barriers to care are obvious. Others are quieter, and just as real.
Why we cover travel, not just treatment
Dr. Corey Babb at Haven Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma wrote something this month that put words to a problem we see constantly. Care can exist and still be out of reach, simply because of where a woman lives.
Read “The Geography of Suffering” here.
It’s part of why The Aziza Project has never treated travel as a side cost. A woman can find Dr. Babb on her own, book the appointment, and still be stopped by the price of a plane ticket or a tank of gas.
We’re grateful for partners like Angel Flight, whose volunteer pilots have helped fly our clients to care. One more way distance stops being the deciding factor.
Welcome, Fran
Fran became a new monthly donor this month, and that kind of commitment is what lets us plan ahead instead of just reacting. Thank you, Fran, for showing up every single month.
Thank you, Wanda
Every donation this organization receives gets a handwritten thank-you card, and that ongoing work belongs to our volunteer Wanda. Month after month, she’s the one making sure every gift, no matter the size, gets acknowledged with care. Thank you, Wanda.
We are still $8 short
Our goal is funding 12 consultations a year, one every month, without exception. We are $8 a month away. Your gift today is what closes that gap.
Your gift is tax-deductible. The Aziza Project is a project of Visions Made Viable, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Know you are mighty,
Stephanie Berman
