Stephanie’s Story: A Second Trip to Tulsa, an MRI, and a New Lead
It’s been nearly a year and a half since we shared an update on our founder, and now we have some news!
Stephanie is still looking for a solution to her atopic dermatitis, having tried several different topical medications (both OTC and prescription), and has also taken not one, but two trips back to Tulsa for further pelvic floor Botox and other investigation. The first trip was fairly uneventful, just another round of Botox and a varicose vein repair, and an MRI order to look at Stephanie’s pelvic veins, to see if there were on-going issues there.
The second trip was unexpected. It came about because Stephanie experienced an unexpected (but painless!) complication from the varicose vein repair. The question Stephanie was left with was, “Do I try to explain my entire complex gynecologic pain history to a local urgent care doctor, or do I spend $$$ to fly back to Tulsa?”.
Stephanie returned to Tulsa, where Dr. Babb did a bit more digging. They never did find an explanation for Stephanie’s mysterious complication, but Dr. Babb did order a CT scan, which didn’t find anything wrong and put Stephanie’s mind at ease.
However… one week after returning from the second Tulsa trip, Stephanie had the MRI, which did reveal varicose veins deep in her pelvis, which could explain Stephanie’s on-going pain! In a follow-up appointment, Dr. Babb offered to refer Stephanie to an interventional radiologist who treats pelvic varicose veins. Stephanie has taken that referral, and that appointment is scheduled for November 2026.
While Stephanie had the funds to pay for her own round trip back to Tulsa, the clients we serve here at The Aziza Project don’t. You can offer hope by making a donation to our appointment fund here.
